Mikado Days - `Work in Progress' pictures

Here are a few extra photo of the garments taken during and after they were completed. There are not as many photos for this pattern as there shall be for the next - simply because I had the idea when most of the garments were completed. Hopefully though the instructions with the pattern are understandable - any problems, please address them on the new List - Link at base of this page which shall be to everyone's benefit!

Picture at right shows the collar positioning on the Kimono coat. I do stress to check before stitching on lining that both edges of your collar match at each side!

Picture at top left is the layering and pinning of the embroidered silk, wadding and lining - before I stitched them together. Other two show back and front detail of finished Dolman Jacket

Detail of Mandarin Jacket showing bands of contrast fabric, embroidery detail and the mock button detail. If you want an easy life don't attempt the bands and just have the jacket all one fabric. You can still embroider details at the cuffs and edges.

Three pictures below of drape skirt. This is a very quick and easy skirt to make - the embellishment lifts it out the ordinary!

Shell top above showing off center fastening and mock buttons on front

Picture to left shows dragon embroidery on leg of pants. Photo below shows back closure, with pants fitting snugly about hips unlike the legs which are loose.

Photo below shows halter top with the Mandarin halter collar, again very easy to make. Picture of Sydney with the asymmetrical skirt and the obi belt.

Detail of three `Coolie Hats' showing the embroidery on each. I didn't hide the back seam or add anything to the brim edge but I suppose you could add braid or trim

Photos upper left shows silk remnants sewn onto gold silk, photo above shows the shapes once fabric is trimmed and pressed and photo to left shows finished purses
