`Drift Away ` - Work in Progress Pictures

Here are a few extra photos of the garments taken as they were completed.  Hopefully the instructions you receive with the Drift Away pattern are understandable - any problems, please address them on the Contemporary Chic List - Link at base of this page which shall be to everyone's benefit  - howeverif you are uncomfortable with this please don't hesitate to contact me directly !

The back of the Brocade jacket, no darts just princess seams to shape and form. Note the placement of the embroidered Seahorse - not too much embroidery at the waist so that it sits neatly to the dolls curves.

This Ice Blue Brocade fabric - which I bought a couple of years ago - was the inspiration for the whole collection and the Sea-shell theme - it has a shell pattern woven into the fabric which is interspersed with small gold dots, hence choosing pale gold as the contrast fabric - very simple but I think effective?!

Front of Brocade jacket showing the Ric-Rac braid that I basted to front on right side at the outer edge before pinning on the lining. Take this part slowly as the more time you take placing the braid between Lining and MF the better the end result - unpicking through three thicknesses of fabric is no fun at all - I know!!! ;)

Brocade skirt showing Ric-Rac trim which was tacked to either side of Front section before sewing on the side sections. Braid was then pressed onto Front section. A contrast colour would look great i.e. a navy skirt with white braid; red skirt, black braid; lemon skirt, lilac braid and so on .......

Here are the two tote bags used in each pattern but each with a different look purely by contasting the fabrics, beading and braid trim.

Duster knit coat showing just how simple the styling is! It's unlined as I found the knit fabric was heavy enough to drape well without being lined - a lining would have caused countless problems once the knit fabric began to stretch thus puckering the lining.

Chain belt, non-functioning purse and shell jewellery

Loose knit top with front roll neck - the knit should roll naturally onto it's purl side - if it doesn't - roll it by hand and gently steam in place. The top pulls onto the doll feet first - stretchy fabrics give you this flexibility (the two wee bumps are the shapes left by the dolls busom not flaws in fabric !)

This is the a close up of the Chiffon Assymetrical dress bodice and the ribbon `straps' which you will stitch to the bodice under the bust, to center back then wrap the ribbon around her abdomen twice for that `Grecian' look tying ribbon at the back waist

Here's the easy-peasy knit pants - this honestly is a very quick but satisfying outfit to make up - however as I suggested in the Pattern Instructions steer clear of an Acrylic knit fabric as it stretches when pressed - try to find a knit which contains a little Lycra, or a Jersey fabric.

Here you can see the lower part of the chiffon skirt with it's glittery edges, and beneath that the crepe-de-chine under-dress hemline which is cut at an opposing angle

Here are the two Sequin head-dresses, made entirely from sequins, pearls and stamens glued to an Interfacing Brocade covered base. You can let your imagination go wild here as it will never look as fantastical as some of the creations concocted by some well known designers

Close up of Festoon Necklace I made to co-ordinate with the jacket - the tiny Seahorse charms used were bought from an Embroidery store which sells these to embellish embroidered pictures. Sites which sell Heirloom needlework supplies would be a good source for charms like these.

Details of shell and rectangular lame purses and tassels on base of lame wrap.
