A Night at the Opera

Daisy Hatton-Clarke is late again. Her beau for the evening is pacing impatiently up and down the cobbled street outside Covent Garden. Now they'll have to wait until the first Act is over, and he'd paid a fortune for these tickets, but Daisy was worth it. Debutantes like her just didn't seem to have any sense of time, all blonde and giggles, but she was a stunner

Then he heard her car arrive, her familiar shrill giggling and out she came, a vision in bright azure velvet and glittering silver beadwork. Heads were turned but as always she didn't seem to notice, too concerned was she that her expensive and heavy Parisian head dress was on straight. How would her poor neck stand the strain, plus she'd have to put up with this frightful bore Jeffrey all night

Daisy's typically straight 20's sheath dress is made in an azure blue jaquard shot with gold, which has been beaded with bands of silver and dark turquoise bugles, over which an orange blossom pattern was  traced in silver and bright orange which extends the full length of the dress. At the back is a burnt orange detachable train which falls from her shoulders and is , beaded at the top and tassled at the pointed tip.

Her long tulip edged, soft, azure velvet cloak is made from vintage fabric, and the colour is positively vibrant. The yoke is made from the same fabric as the dress and it's fully lined with soft turquoise pongee. Ribbon rossettes of orange and gold decorate the edge of the yoke. They are trimmed with turquoise ribbon which is stiched with silver and orange beads. The large velvet collar is ruched and gathered along the middle, a popular fashion in the early twenties .The head dress is made from a piece of vintage jewellery which has been moulded into shape and embellished with more beads and loops of silver bugles at each side. The jewellery consists of a pair of crystal earrings, a double strand of crystal and diamante beads, and a bracelet. She also carries a velvet beaded purse and a turquoise feather fan, and has long white Opera gloves.
