The Coronation Collection

It's 1953 and the eyes of the world are on London, looking towards June 2nd to be exact, and Kitty has been invited to England by a friend who is `coming out' . She'll be there in London for the `Season' and has a  hoast of wonderful functions to attend all over England, Ireland and Scotland too.

New outfits will be added every few days until her trip is over, and a few of the outfits will be accompanied by vintage silk headsquares, each commemorating various events which took place at that time.  These vintage textiles are included in with the sale, and were bought in their original packaging and are unused.

In a few cases I can make two of each outfit, but mostly they will be OOAK's since I only have small amounts of fabric or have one Vintage Headsquare, which ultimately inspired the outfit.

If she has time Kitty might venture to Paris or maybe even Spain, but she has a business to run back home so might not be able to `play away' for too long.

Blush

a floral confection fit for a Garden Party!

Kitty is blushing with excitement. Her girfriend in England has invited her over for the Season, and during that time the Princess Elizabeth is to be crowned Queen of Great Britain and the Commomwealth.

Bring some Formal gowns, party dresses, a few suits and some sight seeing clothes because we've a heavy schedule dear" she's told!

A Garden Party is the first function to be announced so Kitty chooses a bright Silk, for the first of her gowns?

The full skirt is made from a soft lustrous pure silk satin, with a Poppy and Anemone print glowing in cyclamen pinks, crimson, emerald and black. The bodice is of fine black dupion and the large collar fastens to the back with tiny silk covered buttons, whilst the crimson silk cummerbund fastens tightly around her trim waist. The beading on the bodice highlights the colours in the fabric, and matches the beading on her hat perfectly.

To finish the outfit, no lady could be without her gloves, in this case black..

The picture hat is made from shaded ombre ribbon, which can moulded into a variety of shapes. The centre is beaded with tiny vintage black glass balls, and beads in shades of cerise, pink and irredescant greens, surrounded by cyclamen pnk and black stamens, and loops of emerald micro beads.

Her necklace co-ordinates with the beading on her bodice, chosen to highlight the colours in her hat, and simple black studs at her ears finish the look.
